1x6x10' V-Groove

Also known as “Car Siding” and “V-Joint”, "V Board","V Notch" and “#122 Pattern”, our knotty #2 grade 1x6x10' Tongue & Groove V-Groove wall panels reveal the natural bright yellow pine wood grain, making it a beautiful choice for your interior walls and ceilings.

These have a rustic appearance with a smooth or slightly textured face and a V-groove at the joint. They are commonly used for interior walls, ceilings, and decorative exterior applications (such as porches). They provide a high-end, finished look. It is often used instead of t111 siding or sheetrock/drywall.

More Information:

Pine planks are easy-to-install and require less work than drywall to install, and are also more resistant than drywall to cracking and damage.

Kiln-dried southern yellow pine takes a finish very well, and can be clear-coated with polyurethane to maintain its natural bright yellow luster, or whitewashed. Southern Yellow Pine is one of the most versatile woods in terms of how well it takes a variety of stains, paints, and finishes. The boards are planed smooth, and are unsanded and unfinished. Sanding is optional, recommended but not required. Most of the knots are tight, although there may be a loose knot (an open knot where there is a holy in the board) here and there.

Most commonly installed horizontally to make a room look larger, the 10’ V-Groove spans 24” studs easily with no cutoff pieces. Of note: if you have 16” stud spacing, 10’ lengths are not ideal, as you will have to cut off about 6” off of each board to meet the studs. Try using 8’, 12’, or 16’ lengths if you have 16” stud spacing.

V-Groove can also be installed vertically to emphasize the height of a room (this may require adding some furring strips to the studs for the vertical boards to nail into). V-Groove can be installed over bare framing, over drywall, or over ugly plaster/popcorn ceilings as a coverup. V-Groove is also used for making farmhouse style doors and cabinet doors and other projects.

These boards are most commonly blind-nailed into place at a 45 degree angle through the tongue (to hide the nails) at the joists with 15 to 18 gauge finish nails (using higher gauge for interior installations, and lower gauge for exterior uses where there may be more swelling of the boards and other movement), although some people face nail the boards, and optionally cover up the nail holes later.

These boards may be installed for outside siding/cladding provided that proper water-resistant painting, staining, or waterproofing sealing is applied.

Commonly used for:
* Accent walls
